Most local businesses do not need to come first across the whole of Spain: they need to come first in their own town and the ones next door. That is local SEO, and it is far more achievable than it looks.
Start with your Google Business Profile
It is free and it is what moves the needle fastest, especially on mobile. The right category, real opening hours, a phone number someone answers, genuine photos of the premises and, very importantly, reviews. Ask for them: a happy customer will almost always leave one if you remind them.
One page for each service and town, with its own content
If you work in five towns, a single page listing them all does very little. One page for each service and town combination works better… as long as each one says something different. Copying the same page and changing the name of the town is the fastest way to get Google to ignore them.
We apply this to our own area pages, such as web design in Mataró, where each one talks about the specific business fabric of that town.
Make the website load fast on an ordinary phone
Not on your laptop with fibre: on a mid-range phone with patchy coverage. Google measures the real experience, and a slow website loses positions and visits before anyone has read a word.
Get local mentions
Trade associations, the directories in your town, the local press and the suppliers you work with are links Google reads as “this business really exists and it is here”. They are worth more than a hundred generic links.
Measure what happens
Search Console is free and it tells you why people find you. If you see that you show up for “bathroom renovations” but you have no page for it, you already know what to write next week.
How long it takes
Locally, two or three months to start moving positions is a realistic timescale. Anyone promising you the top spot in a fortnight is selling you hype. If you would like us to look at it together, we offer you 30 minutes of free consultancy.
